I hope you watch Anything But Freakin’ Rasslin’! on Saturday. As I stated yesterday, my filter is long gone, my age and experience has given me the right to say whatever it is I want to say. Honestly, I don’t care who gets pissed off—Ring of Honor cannot, and should not be categorized as “professional wrestling”. By labeling it such–it is an insult to any true wrestling fan who grew up on the product and truly understands and respects what the art form genuinely IS SUPPOSED TO represent. There is nothing about Ring of Honor that is remotely professional wrestling. If you want to change its name, and reference it as something else—I have no problem with that. Plain looking guys wanting to be acrobats comes to mind. That would be a great name for ROH—because that’s what it is. Is there any question why nobody watched it when it was on Destination America? If there is—let me answer it for you–Nobody watched it because you lied to the casual wrestling fans by labeling your product PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING. People don’t like being lied to—especially those that KNOW they are being lied to. Calling Ring of Honor professional wrestling is the equivalent of calling Quickdraw McGraw a serious, dramatic series.
I’m going to stop here before my blood pressure starts going up again like it did this morning during my ABFR podcast. If you want to hear my rant in its entirety . . . it will be available on Saturday. This is also the very last time I will ever even discuss Ring of Honor, because PodcastOne is bringing me aboard to talk about PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING, not average looking Joe’s flipping around in a ring not selling one damn thing.
The Women of Honor are the best part of their product. Taeler Hendrix who kinda looks like Poison Ivy stands out the most.
I never watched Ring of Honor so forgive my ignorance but am I correct in thinking they are partly responsible for the end of the “finisher”?
basicly turned wrestling into kids playing with fake guns…
“I shot you!!”
“Yeah but I have invincibility armour on & can’t die”
I wish you could have seen Larry Sweeney in Ring of Honor when he was alive. The absolute second coming of Bobby Heenan–but could also work in the ring. Unfortunately he passed away in 2011. Best promos and character. YouTube him sometime. Really only one of the few entertainment aspects of ROH over the years.
Couldn’t agree more….everytime I watch it I feel like they’re wanna be gymnast instead of professional wrestlers.
I’m watching NXT Takeover and the same goes for NXT, Too many average Joe’s without a character and back to back matches without any creative storyline at all. The matches are presented like you’re watching an MMA event and the crowd is responding accordingly. This has nothing to do anymore with the pro wrestling that I grew up with in the eighties. This is ruining the business because all these NXT and Indy darling lovers think that wrestling should evolve around 5 star matches only.
Very well said!
