If you’ve drafted your fantasy team already and chose A.J. Pollock, you are cringing. The Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder went down last night with a fractured elbow during an exhibition game.
Pollock emerged as star for the Diamondbacks last year hitting .315 with 20 home runs and 76 RBIs. He also scored 111 runs and stole 40 bases. Those stats made him a star in the world of fantasy baseball. In most pre-season fantasy baseball rankings, Pollock was ranked as the no.7 outfielder in the entire game.
The Diamondbacks have not announced how long A.J. will be on the DL as of yet. The typical amount of recovery time for a fractured elbow is three months, so he’ll be out for a very significant amount of time. If he follows the three-month timetable he’ll be back in July right around the All-Star break.
I definitely wouldn’t draft A.J. Pollock early anymore. If you can afford to use a late pick on him he’d still be worth it. He could be the perfect addition down the stretch in your fantasy league to push you into the playoffs.
