Last night Kyle Schwarber of the Cubs went down with a leg injury. After X-Rays were revealed to be negative, the injury was originally diagnosed as a left ankle sprain. However today’s MRI revealed a torn ACL and LCL of the knee ending Schwarber’s season in the first week.

This is a MASSIVE blow to fantasy baseball owners. What makes this such a major blow is the fact that Schwarber could be plugged in at catcher in fantasy leagues even though he was predominantly an outfielder for the Cubs.

Jorge Soler of the Cubs will be the immediate plug-in in the everyday lineup. He’d be a great pickup for your team. Soler is incredibly gifted physically and has the potential to be a breakout player for the Cubs this season.

If you had Schwarber penciled in at catcher this season, listen to today’s Who’s On First with myself and Vince Russo for our advice on some catchers to pick up and fill your roster with.
